• 2020 07 06 Lockdown Ramblings

  Some ramblings during lockdown a few weeks ago, had to stay local with the Scottish Government guidance so a chance to check out some stuff in the Bathgate Hills I had never visited before. First up, Raven Craig Woodland in West Lothian. Found this by accident when sheltering in the rain in the car eating a snack or two. When torrential downpour stopped realised I was in a car park for a woodland walk so went to explore.

• 2020 07 04 Daisy Trip 2

  A break in the torrential rain in Scotland let me take Daisy out for a proper run. In these COVID-19 days I am lucky to have some trails only a few minutes travel down the road and their are quit a number of offroad options (although a lack of singletrack). So I thought I would push out my previous 22 mile route a bit and try another trail Id found using Strava heatmap.

• 2020 06 30 Daisy First Outting

  Today I picked up my new bike, upgrading from my 2013 hardtail to a short travel MTB CX bike Giant Anthem 2 29er. Things I instantly liked about the new bike were the increased ability to roll over stuff meaning the lumps and bumps slowed you down less. This was particularly noticable on climbs. The more linear gear changing of the 1x12 system. I do lose a couple of high gear ratios but this is more than compensated by the ease of changing under power on climbs.
